The US ambassador to Ukraine, Bridget Brink, made a statement regarding the Russian missile attack on Sumy, which occurred in the morning of April 13. Brink his reaction made public in the social network Kh.
Brink noted that Russia launched a ballistic missile attack on Sumy, as a result of which 32 civilians were killed and 99 others were injured.
She also added that, as in the case of Kryvyi Rih, rockets with a cluster warhead were reportedly used in Sumy, which caused even greater destruction and damage to the civilian population.
“Our prayers are with the residents of Sumy“, the head of the American diplomatic mission said, without indicating direct accusations against the Russian Federation.
We will remind that last week Brink was criticized for a similar reaction to the attack on Kryvyi Rih on April 4, when she did not mention in her post that the attack was carried out by Russia. After that, information appeared about Brink’s intention to leave the post, and on April 10, the US State Department officially confirmed her resignation.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on this statement, noting that he was “unpleasantly surprised” by such a sluggish reaction of the US Embassy.
