The US Congress initiated impeachment proceedings against Donald Trump

Democratic congressman from Michigan Sri Thanedar submitted to the US House of Representatives articles on the initiation of impeachment against Donald Trump.
“I filed articles of impeachment against President Trump. When Trump ignores the Constitution, Congress and the courts, he is not fighting for America. He is destroying it and endangering our democracy.” Thanedar said.
He announced that he has filed seven articles of impeachment, in which he accuses Trump of a number of serious violations. Among other things, Thanedar points to the deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a man he says was mistakenly sent to El Salvador.
Separately, he accuses Trump of illegally cutting funding to a number of government agencies through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), without congressional approval. The list of reasons for impeachment also included Trump’s aggressive tariff policy, which had a negative impact on the world economy, pressure on the media, violation of the First Amendment to the US Constitution, bribery, interference with the work of the judiciary, as well as illegal collection of personal data of citizens.
“Article seven is a tyrannical excess of authority. Trump is trying to concentrate unlimited power and destroy the constitutional limits of the presidency. In our country, presidents, not kings. This is not just a misdemeanor, it is an impeachable misdemeanor.”, Thanedar emphasized.
It will be recalled that Donald Trump set an anti-record in recent decades for the level of drop in the presidential rating during the first 100 days in office. Against this background, tariff wars cause prices to rise in the US, which leads to an even greater decrease in the popularity of the current president, mass protests and the launch of impeachment proceedings.
