France offered Russia negotiations on Ukraine without the participation of Kyiv: Lavrov
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Serhiy Lavrov stated that France has allegedly repeatedly offered to conduct negotiations on the settlement of the war in Ukraine without the involvement of Kyiv. This is reported by the Russian mass media.
“Several times there were appeals by our French colleagues through closed channels: let us help, establish a dialogue on the Ukrainian issue. By the way, without any Ukraine, just a dialogue on the Ukrainian issue, allegedly violating the principle that the West constantly repeats that “no word about Ukraine without Ukraine”, – said Lavrov.
He noted that Russia has a positive attitude to such initiatives, but doubts the sincerity of France’s intentions and is not sure of the potential results of such proposals. Lavrov also emphasized that France conducts training of the Ukrainian military on its territory and is in favor of sending the European contingent to Ukraine.
“Such ambiguous behavior does not cause a desire to take seriously what is happening at the initiative of our French colleagues”, – he added.
According to the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the ceasefire in Ukraine is a “promising path” and Moscow needs “final legal agreements” to ensure its security.
