The US will announce new sanctions against Russia and its partners at the G7 summit

The US will announce new sanctions and export control measures against Russia at the G7 summit in southern Italy later this week.
About this stated White House spokesman John Kirby.
The United States and the leaders of the largest Western economies imposed large-scale sanctions against Russia after its invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Kirby said a series of effective new sanctions and export controls will be introduced to target organizations and networks that help Russia wage war.
“We will continue to spend on the Russian military machine”, Kirby said.
The annual summit of the leaders of the most economically developed democratic countries of the world – the “Big Seven” (G7) will be held in Italy from June 13 to 15. The meeting will take place in Apulia in the south of Italy, at the Borgo Egnazia hotel. The G7 includes the United States, Japan, Canada, Germany, France, Italy and Great Britain. The European Union participates in all discussions and is represented by the presidents of both the European Council and the European Commission.
The summit is scheduled to begin on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with discussions on the challenges of the African continent, climate change and development. The leaders will then discuss the situation in the Middle East before two sessions dedicated to Ukraine, the first of which will be attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
Sessions on immigration, the Indo-Pacific and economic security will be held on the second day, with partners arriving for talks on the Mediterranean, energy and Africa in the afternoon. Pope Francis will take part in talks on artificial intelligence.
Much attention will be paid to whether the leaders of the “Big Seven” can agree on how to use the profits obtained from the Russian assets frozen in the West, for the benefit of Ukraine.
The White House also expects the G7 next week to issue a stern warning to small and medium-sized Chinese banks that help Russia evade Western sanctions.
Sources in Washington say the United States is poised to announce significant new sanctions against financial institutions and non-banking entities that are part of “technology and goods supply channels” for Russia’s military-industrial complex.
It is not yet known whether the other members of the G7 are willing to follow the hard line of the US. Officially, the summit will last until June 15, but President Joe Biden will fly to Italy on the night of June 14, and the only official item on his agenda Saturday will be a final press conference by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Maloni, as well as a series of bilateral meetings with the leaders of the countries – allies
