The Verkhovna Rada adopted a law to promote the development of volunteering

On January 8, the Verkhovna Rada adopted draft law No. 11159, aimed at the development of volunteering among education seekers. The document was supported by 298 people’s deputies, reported People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
The purpose of the draft law is to create conditions for the involvement of participants in the educational process in volunteering in educational institutions. It provides for the possibility of enrolling volunteering as an internship, if the activity corresponds to the field of study. Volunteers will receive an official document confirming their participation in volunteer work, indicating the direction and number of hours worked.
In addition, the experience of volunteering will influence admission to educational institutions, because it can be included in the motivation letter. Heads of educational institutions will be obliged to promote the development of volunteer initiatives and involve students in volunteer activities.
“Volunteering is a voluntary and free allocation of one’s time for socially useful needs. We must develop a sense of responsibility for our own country from childhood.”, – emphasized the initiator of the draft law, People’s Deputy from the faction “Servant of the People” Roman Hryshchuk.
