On January 7, online voting to the Public Anti-Corruption Council at the Ministry of Defense started

On January 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., elections to the Public Anti-Corruption Council under the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine will be held. About this informs Ministry of Defense

The new composition of the council will receive a mandate for two years to monitor the activities of the Ministry of Defense, including procurement, personnel appointments, corruption risks, as well as informing the public about possible suspicious processes.

The Public Anti-Corruption Council was created after a corruption scandal involving inflated procurement prices. During the first year of its work, the council contributed to the return of non-lethal procurement to the Prozorro platform, which allowed to save 8 billion hryvnias, accelerated the launch of the State Rear Operator, and initiated the creation of supervisory boards of the Defense Procurement Agency (AOZ) and the State Rear Operator (DOT).

The council was planned to be re-elected in April 2024, but the Ministry of Defense delayed the process. The previous attempt to vote on December 26, 2024 failed due to a technical failure on the website of the Ministry of Defense.

This time, among the candidates are journalist Tetyana Nikolayenko, veteran and activist Yuriy Gudymenko, as well as the head of the Independent Anti-Corruption Commission (NACO) Olena Tregub. At the end of December, Gudymenko announced the creation of a coalition of 15 candidates, including veterans, volunteers, journalists and experienced public figures.
