The Verkhovna Rada allowed educational institutions to provide rehabilitation services to veterans

The Verkhovna Rada adopted draft law No. 10160 as a whole, which allows special institutions of general secondary education to provide rehabilitation services to military personnel and veterans with visual or hearing impairments. About this reported People’s Deputy and Chairman of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Education, Science and Innovation Serhii Babak.

In the explanatory note to the draft law, its authors note that servicemen who were injured and need the restoration of vision and hearing functions require long-term and comprehensive rehabilitation. It should include access to modern technical means and the support of professional staff.

“The draft law is aimed at providing a wider range of persons with special educational needs and servicemen with visual and hearing impairments access to educational and rehabilitation services on the basis of special institutions of general secondary education.

And also – further implementation of international standards in the field of protection of the rights of persons with disabilities, creation of a tolerant and equal educational environment for all”. – emphasized the authors of the draft law.

Serhii Babak explained that it is about the institutions of general secondary education, where children with special educational needs, in particular those with visual and hearing impairments, study. Thanks to this, such institutions have already developed methods, have the necessary equipment and qualified specialists who have experience working with people with similar disorders.
