The Verkhovna Rada refuses to fine operators for unreliable connection during blackouts

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine rejected draft law No. 11431, which provided for the imposition of fines on mobile operators for unsatisfactory communication quality during power outages. Only 199 deputies voted for the document, which was not enough to pass a decision. About it in your Telegram channel reported People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

The Council failed in the first No. 11431 regarding the settlement of the issue of state supervision in the field of electronic communications and operational assurance of the sustainability of electronic communications networks“, Zheleznyak said.

The bill provided not only fines for telecommunications operators for violating quality standards during blackouts, but also proposed expanding the powers of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission. In particular, it was planned to increase the number of unscheduled inspections of operators and to strengthen control over compliance with the commission’s requirements.

The main goal of the draft law was to improve the quality of mobile communications for citizens in emergency situations, but it did not receive the necessary support in the session hall.
