The Verkhovna Rada rejected the draft law on the abolition of special pensions for prosecutors

The Verkhovna Rada rejected the draft law “On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine Regarding Pensions of Prosecutor’s Office Employees”, which provided for the abolition of special pensions for prosecutors. About this reported Danylo Hetmantsev, head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy.
Only 223 People’s Deputies supported the corresponding bill No. 12278 with the minimum required number of 226 votes.
“3 votes were not enough to cancel a medieval privilege, which does not exist in any country in Europe. The clan system won again. Even in such a trifle as prosecutors’ pensions”, – noted Hetmantse.
He reminded that this draft law was intended to cancel the norms that allow prosecutors to receive special pensions worth hundreds of thousands of hryvnias already at the age of 35.
“This is a draft law that directly torpedoes the personal clan interest of the clan corruption system that was formed and strengthened over 30 years in our state and feeds on our money and the future of our children… I am sure that this is not the main source of their income. But for them, the very fact of privilege for those who rule the state in real life, and not on TV screens, is important. That is why the system joined the confrontation and, in conclusion, 223 votes on the scoreboard”, Hetmantsev added.
According to the explanatory note, draft law No. 12278 proposed:
- pension for years of service to be assigned to prosecutors after their dismissal from the prosecutor’s office;
- pensions for law enforcement officers and employees of the prosecutor’s office are recalculated taking into account the increase in the monetary income of the population in Ukraine and the increase in consumer prices by the increase factor determined by the law “On mandatory state pension insurance”;
- legislatively determine that changes to the pension legislation can be carried out exclusively by a separate law on amendments to the law “On mandatory state pension insurance”.
According to the estimates of the Ministry of Social Policy, the state spends about 120 billion hryvnias per year on the payment of special pensions. In total, almost 160,000 people receive special pensions in Ukraine, of which almost 77,000 are law enforcement officers and law enforcement officers.
