The Verkhovna Rada supported a bill that allows young military personnel to receive education without leaving their service

The Verkhovna Rada adopted draft law No. 13235 in the first reading, which allows young servicemen to get an education without leaving the service. The corresponding decision was supported by 252 parliamentarians, informs people’s deputy from the “Voice” fraction Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
According to the document, servicemen aged 18 to 24 receive a guaranteed right to education. This opportunity applies to those who joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine through mobilization or signed a contract.
The bill envisages that young people who are serving in military service will be able to study at universities and institutions of professional higher education without leaving the army. At the same time, they will keep their place of study and scholarship, and it will be possible to take a leave of absence for study.
“The decision is aimed at supporting young people who defend the state, as well as at motivating them to complete military service, ensuring access to education and creating conditions for further self-realization after service.” – explained in the Verkhovna Rada.
The Ministry of Defense noted that participation in the training process should not prevent servicemen from fulfilling their duties at their post. Currently, only enlisted, non-commissioned, and non-commissioned servicemen who are on contract, as well as officers who received education on a state order and served a term equal to the duration of training, have the opportunity to receive education during their service.
