EU and the world

The world’s first clinic where patients are diagnosed by AI has opened in Saudi Arabia

A Chinese start-up has opened the world’s first clinic in Saudi Arabia, where diagnosis and treatment is carried out by artificial intelligence in the form of a virtual doctor. About this informs “Bloomberg”.

The Shanghai medtech company Synyi AI launched a pilot project together with the medical group Almoosa Health Group in Saudi Arabia.

Patients at the clinic describe their symptoms to a virtual doctor named Dr. Hua via a tablet. AI analyzes this data together with the results of cardiograms or X-rays. After that, Dr. Hua formulates a treatment plan that is approved by a traditional doctor without a personal examination.

At the same time, ordinary doctors work in the clinic and take on complex cases that are beyond the capabilities of the system. At the test stage, the technology made less than 0.3% of errors.

“What AI has done in the past is help doctors, but now we’re taking the final step to allow AI to diagnose and treat patients directly.” – explained the CEO of the company, Zhang Shaodian.

So far, the pilot program has been tested by several dozen patients. Before the clinic begins full-fledged commercial work, its diagnostic results must be submitted for approval to the Saudi authorities.
