The world’s first robot boxing tournament was held in China

In the Chinese city of Hangzhou took place the world’s first humanoid robot boxing tournament – Unitree Fist King: Awakening, organized by Unitree Robotics. The event had the format of Muay Thai fights between humanoid machines and became a demonstration of advanced achievements in the field of robotics.

Before entering the ring, Unitree engineers carefully prepared the robots, focusing on their ability to maintain balance and stability. Each machine was equipped with LiDAR sensors and depth cameras, allowing for complex combat combinations – including hooks and knee strikes.

The robots were controlled remotely by four teams of engineers who used gamepads and voice commands for real-time control. According to the rules of the tournament, a defeat was counted if the robot did not get up within eight seconds after falling. The reason for the fall could be both a loss of balance and an opponent’s blow.

The main goal of the Unitree Fist King: Awakening event was to demonstrate the company’s technological capabilities and test engineering solutions in a dynamic environment. The organizers have already announced that the next tournament is scheduled for December 2025 and promised to make it even more spectacular and dynamic, taking into account the experience of the first competition.
