The Polish general is planned to be fired from the NATO headquarters: the media reports on the possible reasons

The Ministry of Defense of Poland has not yet commented on this situation.

Polish General Artur Jakubczyk’s term of office at the NATO headquarters will be shortened at the request of the Alliance’s allies. About this informs edition of Rzeczpospolita.

According to the newspaper, the basis for this decision was violations during the competition for the position of head of the intelligence policy department in the joint intelligence and security department of the NATO headquarters. Jakubczyk was a member of the selection committee and, according to sources, preferred the candidate from Poland.

In addition, his behavior was characterized as homophobic and racist.

In response to the publication’s request, the Ministry of Defense of Poland stated that it would not comment on this case at the moment. However, one of the interlocutors at the ministry admitted that Poland’s reputation has suffered, and it is not known whether it will be able to maintain its position in NATO.

General Jakubczyk is one of the eight Polish generals in NATO structures. Previously, he served as the deputy commander of the 18th mechanized division, whose commander from 2018 to 2022 was General Yaroslav Gromadzinsky. In the middle of last year, Gromadzinski became commander of the Eurocorps in Strasbourg, but he was also dismissed before the end of his term after a review by the Military Counterintelligence Service found that he “did not guarantee secrecy”.

It will be recalled that last year in Poland, the investigation into the spy network, which operated on the order of Russian intelligence, was completed. An indictment against 16 people was submitted to the court.
