Thousands of government web pages removed in the United States due to Trump’s anti-diversity and “gender ideology” law

Thousands of pages from US government websites have been removed or changed as a result of Donald Trump’s law targeting diversity initiatives and so-called “gender ideology”. About this informs The New York Times.

According to Trump’s order, government agencies had until 5:00 p.m. Friday to remove the relevant materials. As a result, more than 8,000 pages were removed, including those related to vaccinations, support for veterans, hate crimes, scientific research and other topics.

The website of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention underwent the most changes, where more than 3,000 pages disappeared. Among the removed materials were research articles on chronic disease prevention, recommendations for treatment of sexually transmitted infections, information on Alzheimer’s disease symptoms, materials on overdoses and vaccination advice for pregnant women, likely due to the use of the term “pregnant people”.

More than 3,000 pages were also removed from the US Census Bureau website. Most of these related to research methodology, as well as data management policies and documentation for a number of research programs.

About 1,000 pages disappeared from the website of the Office of Justice Programs, and another 200 from Head Start, a federal program for children from low-income families. In addition, hundreds of pages were removed from various government resources, including materials about hate crimes and messages about using the national hotline in cases of mass shootings or natural disasters.

Many of the missing pages contained the terms “inclusion” or “transgender.” Some were initially removed and later returned after editing to remove words related to diversity, gender or climate change. At the same time, materials without similar deadlines were also removed, and the reasons for their disappearance remain unclear. It is not yet known which part of these pages will be restored after the changes, and which will be permanently deleted.
