Today, the European Parliament votes on a €35 billion loan to Ukraine

At the plenary session of the European Parliament, a debate began on the provision of financial assistance to Ukraine, in particular, a plan to allocate a loan of up to 35 billion euros to support Kyiv is being discussed. About this informs press service of the European Parliament.

The loan is part of a larger package of financial assistance agreed by the G7 countries. It is planned that this loan will be repaid at the expense of the frozen assets of the Central Bank of Russia.

Voting on this issue in the European Parliament is scheduled for noon.

During the visit of the head of the European Commission to Kyiv at the end of September, an important decision was made to provide Ukraine with a loan of 35 billion euros. The funds are planned to be used to support Ukraine’s energy sector and defense needs. It is important that the repayment of the loan will also take place at the expense of frozen Russian assets, which is another blow to the Russian economy.

Earlier, on October 9, it became known that the Council of the EU approved the initiative of the European Commission to allocate this loan to Ukraine.
