The first baby conceived using revolutionary artificial insemination technology was born in Peru
The first baby conceived thanks to a unique fertility technology that uses stem cells to develop an embryo outside the body has been born in Peru. About this informs New Atlas.
The authors of this method emphasize its speed, safety and availability compared to traditional in vitro fertilization (IVF).
The innovative approach, called Fertilo, was developed by Gameto. There, they are convinced that their technique eliminates the key disadvantages of conventional IVF, including long treatment cycles, serious side effects, and emotional and physical difficulties.
“The birth of the first child conceived using this method marks a turning point in reproductive health and highlights the enormous potential of our technology.”, – noted Dina Radenkovic, CEO and co-founder of Gameto.
The Fertilo technique differs from standard IVF in that it uses ovarian support cells (OSCs) created from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). In the process, immature oocytes are cultured together with OSCs in the laboratory, reproducing the natural mechanism of their maturation.
