Tragedy in the park of Kryvyi Rih: a utility worker died from a bee attack while trimming trees
The tragic incident happened today during the work of the employees of the utility company “Park named after Bohdan Khmelnytskyi”. A 45-year-old utility worker died from the bites of wild hornets that flew out of the hollow of an old tree that was pulled out of the river. About this informs local publication “Rudan”.
The incident happened near the Boat Station in Mershavtseva Park. Park workers were tasked with clearing the river of rotten trees that had fallen into it during the winter.
“We took these trees out of the water, put them on the ground and started sawing the trunks. Suddenly, a swarm of hornets flew out of the hollow of one of the trees. There were a lot of them, and they began to sting us. We didn’t have time to escape, and our colleague was stung the most. At first he went to the river, washed himself, he got better, but later he fainted”, – said employee Yevhen.
According to utility workers, the hornet’s nest was hidden in a hollow tree, so the attack was completely unexpected.
“We didn’t even notice the nest when we were working. As soon as the colleague got sick, we immediately called an ambulance, but he probably had a very strong allergic reaction.”, – suggested the employee Volodymyr.
The medics who arrived at the scene could not save the victim. The man was 45 years old. Currently, law enforcement officers are investigating the circumstances and causes of his death.
