Trump and Zelensky had a telephone conversation

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, had a telephone conversation with the President of the United States, Donald Trump. The contact took place against the background of tensions in relations between Trump and Putin, as well as the temporary suspension of American arms supplies to Ukraine. This is what Zelenskyi said reported in the X social network.
During the conversation, the President of Ukraine congratulated Donald Trump and the people of the United States on Independence Day. Zelensky expressed gratitude to the United States for the support and emphasized that Ukraine supports all initiatives aimed at ending violence and establishing a lasting and dignified peace.
According to Zelenskyi, during the conversation, the parties discussed the situation at the front and Russian airstrikes:
“We discussed the possibilities regarding air defense and agreed that we will work on increasing the protection of the sky. We agreed on a corresponding meeting of our teams.”
It was also about the potential joint production of weapons. Ukraine is ready for partnership projects with the USA, in particular in the field of drones.
“They discussed mutual purchases and investments. They exchanged views on the diplomatic situation and joint work with America and other partners”, — added Zelensky.
It will be recalled that on July 3, US President Donald Trump spoke with Russian President Putin. Commenting on the results of the conversation, Trump noted that he was “dissatisfied with Putin’s position” regarding Ukraine and that he “has not made any progress with him.”
In addition, Trump emphasized that the United States will continue to supply weapons to Ukraine, but must be sure that its own stockpile of weapons remains at an adequate level:
“We continue to supply weapons to Ukraine. We are working with them, trying to help them. But we have to make sure that we have enough weapons ourselves. Biden has exhausted our entire country by sending them weapons. We have to take care of our own stockpile.”
