Trump bans citizens of 12 countries from entering the US

US President Donald Trump decided to ban entry to the United States for citizens of 12 countries and introduced partial restrictions for seven more countries. About this informs CNN.

The ban applies to citizens of Afghanistan, Myanmar (Burma), Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen. These measures are justified by “security risks”. In addition, partial restrictions are in place for residents of Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela.

The ban does not apply to persons with valid visas, lawful permanent residents, certain visa categories, and those whose entry is in the national interest of the United States. As the representative of the White House reported, the president made the final decision to sign the decree after the anti-Semitic attack in the state of Colorado. The issue has been discussed before, but Sunday’s attack has prompted the urgent introduction of restrictions.

It will be recalled that on March 22, 2025, the administration of Donald Trump decided to cancel the temporary legal status of 530 thousand citizens of Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela, which may lead to an increase in the risk of their deportation.

In 2022, the administration of President Joe Biden introduced the CHNV program, which provided for the legalization of migrants. Under this initiative, those with American sponsors and their immediate family members were allowed to come to the United States and stay there for two years, using temporary immigration status, which provides the right to enter and stay.
