Trump declared May 8 the Day of Victory of the United States in World War II

Donald Trump announced, that May 8 will be celebrated in the USA as Victory Day in the Second World War.
“Many of our allies and friends celebrate May 8 as Victory Day, but we did much more than any other country to achieve a victorious outcome in World War II. I hereby rename May 8 as Victory in World War II and November 11 as Victory in World War I.”, — Trump explained.
He emphasized that the United States won both world wars.
“We won both wars, no one came close to us in strength, bravery and military brilliance, but we never celebrate anything – that’s because we no longer have leaders who know how to do it! We will start celebrating our victories again”, – concluded the US president.
We will remind that the capitulation of Nazi Germany, which marked the end of hostilities in Europe, took place precisely on May 8, 1945. However, the final end of the Second World War came only on September 2, 1945 – the day when Japan signed the act of surrender on board the American battleship “Missouri”. Before that, on August 6 and 9, the US launched nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
