Trump demands to remove his portrait in the Colorado State Capitol

US President Donald Trump criticized his portrait, placed in the gallery of portraits of American leaders in the Colorado State Capitol. In his opinion, the picture is “deliberately distorted”, so it should be removed.

“Nobody likes a bad picture or picture of themselves, but the one in Colorado, in the state capitol, that the governor has put up, along with all the other presidents, has been deliberately defaced to a level that even I’ve probably never seen before.” Trump emphasized.

He also noted that the artist made the portrait of the 44th president of the United States, Barack Obama, “magnificent”, while his own is “really the worst”.

“She must have lost her talent with age. Anyway, I’d rather not have any painting than have this one, but a lot of people in Colorado have been calling and writing to complain. They’re really pissed off about it, actually!” Trump stressed.

According to him, he appealed “on behalf of these people” to the governor of the state, Jared Polis, with a request to remove the portrait.

It will be recalled that the Colorado State Capitol traditionally houses portraits of all US presidents as part of the historical gallery. This initiative was started back in the 19th century to honor each president and create a visual history of American leadership. The portraits symbolize the contribution of each president to the development of the country. Visitors to the Capitol can see the faces of all the presidents and learn more about their role in US history.

Artists depict the presidents in their own way, which gives the gallery a cultural value. The portraits are financed by private donations rather than public money, which emphasizes the public interest in preserving this tradition.
