Trump instructed to develop an American version of the Iron Dome

US President Donald Trump signed an executive order to create the Iron Dome air defense system for the United States. The relevant document published on the White House website.

The purpose of the creation of the “Iron Dome” is the implementation of the “peace from the position of strength” policy. Trump noted that over the past 40 years, the threat from modern strategic weapons has grown significantly due to the development of the latest delivery systems and integrated means of air and missile defense on the part of potential adversaries.

This initiative is aimed at ensuring the protection of US citizens and territory by deploying a new generation anti-missile shield system. It is planned to deter aggressors and protect key infrastructure facilities from any foreign air attacks.

Trump emphasizes the importance of ensuring a reliable capability to strike back. The President instructed the head of the Pentagon to develop a reference architecture of the system, define the necessary requirements and create a project implementation plan within 60 days.

This plan should include defense against ballistic, hypersonic, and cruise missiles, as well as other modern threats from the air. In addition, the development of new interception systems and the creation of capabilities to destroy missiles at various stages of their flight, including the pre-launch stage and the active phase, are envisaged.
