Trump said he plans to meet with Putin as soon as possible after his inauguration

US President-elect Donald Trump has announced his intention to hold a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin “as soon as possible” after his inauguration, scheduled for January 20. About this informs Reuters.
Although Trump did not name specific dates, he emphasized that the meeting should take place in the near future. This may be the first meeting between the presidents of the United States and Russia after the beginning of Russia’s large-scale aggression against Ukraine.
In response to a question about the strategy for ending the war in Ukraine, Trump said that everything depends on Putin.
“Well, there’s only one strategy, and it’s up to Putin. I can’t imagine he’s happy with the way things are going, because it’s not exactly good for him either… And I know he wants meet and I’m going to meet as soon as possible” Trump remarked.
Trump also added that he would have started a dialogue with Putin earlier, but for that he would first have to officially take office.
“I would have done it earlier, but you have to get to the office. Some things you have to be there for.” he explained.
