The new Opera browser will take care of users’ mental health

The well-known Norwegian developer Opera presented a new browser “Opera Air”, which is aimed at supporting the mental health of users. About this informs TechCrunch.

Its features include reminders for breaks, breathing exercises, and the ability to turn on nature sounds and binaural rhythms to improve concentration.

“Opera One is a great productivity-focused browser with features like split screen and tab islands. But in Opera Air, we want to convey the concept of mindfulness with the right tools and minimalist design.” – explained the senior director of the company, Mohamed Salah.

New functions are placed on the sidebar of the browser. In particular, the “Take a break” indicator will remind users to take a break: it will initially appear as three bars, which will gradually gray out during long work. Users will be able to independently adjust the reminder interval or completely disable this option.

During the breaks, the browser will suggest various exercises: breathing exercises, neck stretches, meditation or a full body scan. The neck stretch function will allow the camera to be turned on so that “Opera Air” can help users monitor their posture during exercise.

Currently, the browser only supports voice over exercises in English, but the company is working on adding other languages. Another feature of “Opera Air” is the “Boosts” function, which combines music, natural sounds and binaural rhythms. According to Salah, these rhythms help improve focus and concentration.
