Trump said that for the first time in history, the inauguration will take place with flags lowered

US President-elect Donald Trump expresses displeasure with the fact that on the day of his inauguration, January 20, the national flags will be flown at half-mast due to mourning for the deceased ex-president Jimmy Carter. Notifies Reuters.
US national flags, by order of US President Joe Biden, remain at half-mast in connection with the death of former President Jimmy Carter on December 29, in keeping with tradition. The complaint lasts 30 days, so it also covers the date of Trump’s inauguration.
Jimmy Carter, who served as president of the United States from 1977 to 1981, became the longest-lived American president. He died on December 29, 2024 at the age of 100.
Donald Trump in his social network Truth Social expressed regret for such a combination of circumstances.
“All the Democrats are excited that our wonderful American flag can be flown at half-staff during my inauguration. They think it’s incredible and they’re very happy about it, because they really don’t love our country and think only of themselves.”, – says Trump.
He stated that this could be the first time that flags will be flown at half-staff during the inauguration of a new president.
“Nobody wants to see that, no American is going to be happy about that. We’ll see how that plays out.”Trump added.
White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre said there are no plans to review the mourning decision.
It will be recalled that Trump planned a “victory rally” in Washington on January 19 – the day before the inauguration for the second presidential term. For him, this will be the first rally in the American capital since January 2021, when thousands of his supporters stormed the Capitol, trying to prevent the confirmation of Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election.
Earlier, Trump suggested that he might invite Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to his inauguration.
