Trump sent a signal to Zelenskyy about a ceasefire and the abandonment of part of the territories: El Pais

US President-elect Donald Trump sent a signal to Volodymyr Zelenskyi about the need to consider a ceasefire and a possible compromise regarding the occupied territories. About this informs The Country.

Trump expressed the opinion that, despite the desire of Ukrainians to return their lands, many destroyed cities are so damaged that their restoration may not be feasible.

“This is a 110-year reconstruction”, – he noted, questioning the meaning of the return of some territories.

Despite such statements, Trump’s approach to the situation is not entirely negative. His designated representative for Ukraine, General Keith Kellogg, praised military aid to Ukraine from the Joe Biden administration, including new weapons packages and authorization to strike Russia. Trump seeks to achieve peace, but from a position of strength, because it is important for him to maintain the image of a strong leader.

European leaders are trying to convince Trump that a peace agreement beneficial to Russia can strengthen its allies China and Iran. And this can disrupt the global balance of power. According to El Pais, negotiations regarding possible agreements and security guarantees remain private for now.
