Trump signs executive order banning child sex reassignment surgeries

US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order banning gender reassignment operations for people under 19 years of age. About this reported on the official website of the White House.

The document imposes restrictions on the provision of medical services related to gender transition for institutions that receive federal funding. The ban extends to the use of puberty blockers, hormone therapy and surgery.

Trump directed the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services to take all necessary steps to end such procedures, which he called “chemical and surgical mutilation of children.”

The decree specifies that the terms “child” or “children” mean persons under the age of 19. The document states that US policy includes a complete end to the funding, support and promotion of procedures aimed at changing the gender of minors. The decree also provides for strict enforcement of laws that prohibit or restrict such medical interventions.

In addition, the order includes provisions to exclude coverage for the cost of transgender care for youth from federal health insurance programs, including Department of Defense benefits, federal health programs for government employees and postal workers.

“Countless children regret having been maimed and come to realize the terrible tragedy that they will never be able to conceive children of their own or raise their children through breastfeeding.” Trump emphasized.
