Two candidates proposed by Trump for important positions are accused of sexual harassment

Candidates for key positions in the incoming administration of Donald Trump have faced serious allegations that could prevent their confirmation in the Senate. It is reported The Guardian.
Defense Secretary nominee Pete Hegseth and Attorney General nominee Matt Gaetz have been at the center of sexual harassment scandals.
According to Vanity Fair, in 2017 California police investigated allegations of sexual assault against Hegseth, but no criminal charges were filed. Despite this, this information caused concern among Trump’s entourage.
Gaetz, a former congressman from Florida, was previously under investigation by the Justice Department on suspicion of sex trafficking, stemming from allegations of a relationship with a minor. Although he avoided criminal prosecution, a report by the House Ethics Committee, which looked into his conduct, could put his appointment in jeopardy.
As the publication notes, the scandals have already created tension in the process of forming a new administration, as senators from both parties are calling for a thorough investigation of these accusations. Hegseth and Gaetz, known for their radical views, have already caused controversy for their political positions.
The incidents also bring to mind the numerous sexual harassment allegations previously leveled against Trump himself. The current indictments could create obstacles to building his team, affecting the president-elect’s ability to secure the appointment of his nominees.
