Greenland’s parliament bans parties from receiving contributions from foreign or anonymous donors

Greenland’s parliament has passed a bill that prohibits political parties from accepting contributions from foreign or anonymous donors. About this reported AR agency
The document is aimed at protecting the “political integrity of Greenland” and takes into account geopolitical challenges, in particular the situation when representatives of a large union state expressed interest in establishing control over the territory.
The senior lawyer of the parliament, Kent Friedberg, noted that he is not aware of cases of financing of political parties in Greenland by foreign donors, and the draft law itself is rather a “preventive measure”.
The new restrictions apply to all parties, prohibiting domestic private contributions of more than 200,000 Danish kroner (about $27,700) in total, or more than 20,000 kroner (about $2,770) from a single donor.
