Ukraine and Germany signed a memorandum on strengthening Ukrainian air defense

Ukraine signed a memorandum with the manufacturer of the IRIS-T air defense system – the German company Diehl Defense, which provides for an increase in the supply of missiles and air defense systems. About this reported Minister of Defense Rustem Umyerov.
“The protection of Ukrainian skies and cities is our priority. The signed agreement paves the way for large-scale industrial projects that will allow strengthening the capabilities of Ukrainian air defense.” Umerov noted.
He emphasized that the IRIS-T system is a key element of Ukraine’s air defense. According to him, the memorandum envisages a threefold increase in the supply of missiles and air defense systems.
“Thank you to Diehl Defense for the trust and willingness to cooperate. It is important that the world’s leading defense companies are taking a step towards Ukraine. The free world is on our side, and together we are opening new opportunities to strengthen defense”, – emphasized the minister.
He added that the development of the Ukrainian defense industry and its integration into the European defense ecosystem continues. IRIS-T is a short-range air-to-air missile equipped with a cooled infrared homing head. Its development was led by Germany in cooperation with six countries.
