Kazakhstan publicly declares its refusal to help Russia circumvent sanctions
The government of Kazakhstan opposed Russia’s use of the country’s territory to circumvent international sanctions. This was reported by the Russian publication The Moscow Times with reference to the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Roman Vasylenko.
Vasylenko emphasized that Kazakhstan’s position is clear and known to all interested parties. According to him, Russia and the West are equally sympathetic to this position.
“Kazakhstan did not join the sanctions against Russia and did not impose sanctions on its own. However, we do not want our territory to be used to circumvent these sanctions.”, — noted Vasylenko.
He also emphasized that Kazakhstan seeks to avoid the introduction of secondary sanctions against itself, so the authorities take all necessary measures to prevent such violations. According to him, relations between Kazakhstan and Russia do not cause serious problems, but there are “various issues” that arise due to the multifaceted nature of bilateral relations.
Earlier, it became known that the Kazakh company ARC Group helped Russia circumvent sanctions by providing service to Russian Su-30SM aircraft, which use French THALES and SAFRAN aviation equipment. The scheme was uncovered by the international intelligence community, InformNapalm, which noted that it allows Russia to continue maintaining its military aircraft despite the sanctions.
