Ukraine and the United States create a joint investment fund for mining and infrastructure development

Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka said that within the framework of the new partnership between Kyiv and Washington, it is planned to create a joint investment fund. According to him, this fund will have the right to finance projects for the development of Ukrainian deposits, as well as large infrastructure initiatives, in particular in the transport, port and energy spheres. Kachka told about this on the air of the national telethon.

He explained that the fund will function as a specialized financial instrument and will receive the priority right to invest in Ukraine as soon as appropriate opportunities open up. Although the main emphasis is on the mineral sector, the Ukrainian side is also interested in attracting American capital to the modernization of critical infrastructure.

At the same time, Kachka emphasized that it is not about the transfer of Ukrainian assets directly under the management of the fund. It is only a question of permission to invest – with clear procedures, a transparent corporate structure and a clear decision-making mechanism. According to the official, it is important to create such conditions under which the investment fund will work efficiently and bring profit to both parties.

These plans were a continuation of the agreements recorded on April 17 in a joint memorandum between Ukraine and the United States on economic partnership. The following day, the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy published the text of this document.

According to US President Donald Trump, the official signing of the agreement on cooperation in the field of minerals is scheduled for April 24.

It will be recalled that Donald Trump previously publicly stated that Volodymyr Zelenskyi allegedly intends to refuse to sign the agreement. He threatened that “problems” may arise in case of such a step in Kyiv. Currently, the details of the agreement are being discussed, and the final decision on its signing has not yet been made.
