Ukraine cannot give up its desire to become a part of the European Union and NATO, despite opposition from the aggressor country – Russia. About this stated President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during an online conversation with readers of the French publication Le Parisien.
Zelensky noted that it was the Ukrainian people who chose the European path and aspire to become a full member of the EU.
“The Ukrainian people, not me, chose to be a full-fledged state of the European Union. Why should [illegitimate Russian President Volodymyr] Putin interfere in our choice? The time of colonialism has passed. Putin does not play political games. He strikes with his missiles.”, – emphasized Zelensky.
He also drew attention to the fact that the international community allows Putin to act with impunity.
“Abandon NATO? What do they offer us in return? We are aware of the dangers and challenges. Who can guarantee that Putin will not return to Ukraine? Which country will help us with its planes, its troops? Today we have only bilateral guarantees with our partners regarding military and financial support. But if Putin returns with his millions, will we defend ourselves again? Will we witness the death of our women and children? joining NATO, and about guaranteeing our security”, – emphasized the president.
