The first external audit of the NABU has begun

An independent external audit of the work of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau has begun. It informs NABU press office, reports Ukrinform.

In accordance with message, an audit commission was formed from experts in the field of security, anti-corruption activities, asset recovery and audit. They were appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers based on the recommendations of international organizations that provide technical assistance in the fight against corruption.

NABU Director Semen Kryvonos together with his deputies discussed the main principles, approaches, criteria and methodology for evaluating the work of the Bureau with the members of the commission. The head of NABU emphasized his readiness to contribute to the most transparent and effective audit.

“I would like to emphasize that this year NABU is awaiting the first independent audit in its history, in the institution’s history, which will be conducted by independent experts. This process has already begun. The Cabinet of Ministers has sent the relevant letters to provide candidates for this commission to review the bureau’s activities. We are ready fully contribute to this process and are ready, and we will demonstrate its results as transparently as possible.” – said Kryvonos.

The audit will last approximately until mid-January 2025. It is worth noting that Ukraine committed to the IMF to complete the first external audit of NABU by independent experts recommended by international partners by the end of September 2024.
