800 million hryvnias from the budget will go to finance political parties

On Thursday, June 20, the Verkhovna Rada in the second reading adopted draft law No. 11074 on amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On Political Parties in Ukraine”. The text of the law talks about simplifying the reporting procedure of political parties.
Also, for this year, more than 800,000 hryvnias are expected to be allocated from the state budget to finance political forces that are part of the parliament.
“840 million hryvnias from the state budget for parliamentary political parties must be redirected to the needs of the Armed Forces! While the war is ongoing, this is an absolutely adequate solution. The parties are exempted from responsibility for submitting incomplete information in the report to the NAKC. First of all, we are talking about cells in the occupied territories or there, where active hostilities are taking place”, – said the people’s deputy Vasyl Mokan.
According to the people’s deputy, his team proposed suspending state funding of parliamentary parties for the period of martial law. This resource could be used to finance the Armed Forces, the deputy believes. However, these amendments were not supported by the Verkhovna Rada.
“From the state treasury in 2024, UAH 439 million is provided for financing the political party “Servant of the People”, “European Solidarity” – UAH 126 million, “Batkivshchyna” – UAH 83 million, “Voice” – UAH 120 million. Another 148.3 million UAH were supposed to go to “OPZZH”, but this party is officially banned by the court, so these funds will remain in the budget”, – said Mr. Mokan.
