Ukraine has restricted the use of palm oil in certain products

The Verkhovna Rada passed a law banning the use of palm oil in a number of food products, including dairy products, baby food and confectionery. About this reported People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
The main goal of this legislation is the complete elimination of palm oil from food products, with a special emphasis on baby food. The law also regulates the use of hydrogenated palm oil and introduces new labeling requirements for products containing this ingredient.
Among the key provisions of the law:
- Prohibition of palm oil in traditional dairy products.
- Ban on the use of hydrogenated palm oil and other hydrogenated fats in baby food products.
- Ban on the use of hydrogenated palm oil in confectionery products such as chocolate and ice cream.
- Introduction of fines for violation of new rules.
- Introduction of clear and transparent labeling of products containing palm oil.
In addition, earlier in Ukraine, a law was also passed that limits the advertising of medicinal products. It prohibits the placement of any advertising materials on drug packages that may mislead consumers or create a false impression of the product’s exceptional properties.
