Ukraine has expressed readiness to host a contingent of Western military personnel on its territory. About this stated Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Olga Stefanishyna, Politico reports.
“Ukraine is ready to talk about everything that works”, – said the official.
The publication suggests that this statement may indicate a new approach of Ukraine, because its accession to NATO is hardly possible while the war with Russia continues.
Stefanishyna also drew attention to Germany’s negative attitude to the idea of stationing Western troops in Ukraine. She emphasized that such a position does not have any valid reasons.
Earlier, during a conference in Paris with the participation of 20 European leaders, French President Emmanuel Macron said that the possibility of sending Western troops to Ukraine is not excluded. French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu added that it is not about waging war against Russia, noting that consideration of all possible scenarios does not mean escalation.
