Ukraine re-elected to Interpol’s European Committee for another 4 years

Ukraine was re-elected to the European Committee of Interpol for another four-year term. About this informs National Police of Ukraine.

From June 2 to 4, the 52nd Interpol European Regional Conference was held in Athens (Greece). As a result of the event, Ukraine was re-elected to the European Committee – an advisory body that forms the agenda and determines the strategic priorities of Interpol in the European region.

The pre-election campaign on behalf of Ukraine was conducted by acting head of the Department of International Police Cooperation, head of the Interpol-Ukraine National Security Service, police colonel Ivan Gulpa.

Ukraine has been a member of the European Committee of Interpol since 2021 and during this time made a significant contribution to its activities, which became the basis for re-election. In particular, during the 49th European Regional Conference, on the initiative of the Ukrainian delegation, Recommendation No. 5 was adopted, which calls on member states to more actively cooperate in the investigation of genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes.

In addition, Ukraine took an active part in strengthening the role of Interpol in responding to international crimes, in particular through the development of effective mechanisms aimed at the full use of the organization’s mandate in the investigation of war crimes.
