Ukraine receives $190 million loan from World Bank to rehabilitate bridges and roads

Ukraine received 190 million dollars within the framework of the joint project with the World Bank “Creation of sustainable infrastructure in conditions of a vulnerable environment in Ukraine (DRIVE)”. The project is aimed at strengthening the stability of the national road network, modernizing the infrastructure and restoring bridges, reported in the press service of the Ministry of Finance.

Financing was provided by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), which is part of the World Bank group, within the ADVANCE Ukraine Trust Fund. This fund provides credit support to Ukraine at the expense of funds provided by the Japanese government.

The DRIVE project provides for the preservation of the national road network, including design, execution and technical supervision of repair works, major repairs of roads and bridges, highway and transport management reform, periodic maintenance of state roads, as well as the provision of technical assistance and support for projects in the field of transport infrastructure.

In total, Ukraine has already received more than 20 billion dollars of foreign financial aid from the projected 39.3 billion dollars for 2025. Of this amount, 15.8 billion came through the ERA mechanism, 3.7 billion from the European Union, about 400 million from the IMF and 50 million from the World Bank.
