The Ministry of Social Policy has increased the maximum prices for assistive devices for people with visual impairments
Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine increased marginal prices for rehabilitation aids for persons with visual impairments. The corresponding changes entered into force in accordance with Order No. 154-n.
In particular, the marginal cost of tactile sticks (white canes) tripled to almost UAH 800. In addition, the maximum price for rotary tips for such sticks has been set — UAH 410.
The innovations will allow persons with disabilities of group I with visual impairments, as well as children from six years of age, to receive compensation for modern and high-quality means of rehabilitation. In 2024, the state has already reimbursed more than 1,600 visually impaired citizens for self-purchased means of orientation, communication and information exchange.
“Supporting people with disabilities, in particular, people with visual impairments, is always in the focus of our efforts aimed at forming an inclusive society. By expanding access to rehabilitation facilities and other rehabilitation services, we help these people learn the necessary skills, adapt to new conditions and have equal opportunities in all areas of life. This is extremely important, especially in the conditions of the war, which changed the lives of Ukrainians.” – noted Deputy Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Volodymyr Vasylenko.
The Ministry of Social Policy together with partners, in particular the United Nations Development Program in Ukraine (UNDP), continues the implementation of modern rehabilitation programs for people with visual impairments.
We will remind that in 2023, a training ground for orientation and mobility training was created at the “Podillia” Complex Rehabilitation Center in Vinnytsia. Later, they opened a specialized space for learning how to operate a wheelchair and introduced the “Mastery of Movement” course.
