Ukraine’s European integration will be a key priority for Poland under the EU presidency: Duda

The President of Poland Andrzej Duda said that during Poland’s presidency of the European Union, one of the main priorities of Warsaw will be the European integration of Ukraine. He announced this after the meeting of the presidents of the “Arrayolos” group of countries in Krakow, reports Ukrinform.
Duda noted that during the meeting with other leaders of European countries, they repeatedly discussed the issue of joint support for Ukraine. Particular attention was paid to the actions necessary to not only help Ukraine overcome Russian aggression, but also to facilitate its accession to the European Union as soon as possible.
“The questions of how to act so that Ukraine not only survives the terrible aggression of Russia, which it is currently facing, but also how to act so that Ukraine is accepted into the EU as soon as possible, have been repeatedly raised”Duda stressed.
The President of Poland also noted that during the Polish presidency of the EU, which will begin in the first half of next year, European integration of new countries, in particular Ukraine, will be one of the main tasks.
“We also talked about the issue of European integration of new states, that is, about the “open door” to Europe, which, in our opinion, must be preserved. And we noted that the countries that we assume will be the first to be accepted into the EU are Ukraine, as well as Moldova, countries of the Western Balkans”, – emphasized Duda.
In addition, an important priority will be the restoration of Ukraine after the war destruction, which will also require the joint support of European countries.
The Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Olena Kondratiuk, emphasized the importance of maintaining close relations with Poland at all levels, stressing that Warsaw is one of the most important allies of Ukraine.
