The head of the Pentagon said that NATO membership is unrealistic for Ukraine

Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth noted that Ukraine’s membership in NATO is not a realistic scenario for Kyiv. He made such a statement during a meeting in the Rammstein format in Brussels, informs Bloomberg.
According to him, the desire to join the Alliance will only prolong the war in Ukraine:
“Pursuing this illusory goal will only prolong the war and cause more suffering.”
According to Pete Hegseth, a return to the borders of 2014 is unlikely. He also repeated his position regarding the absence of US plans to deploy troops in Ukraine. At the same time, Hegseth stressed that the European Union should more actively take responsibility for the security of the continent.
We will remind that earlier the new head of the Pentagon stated that Washington will not send its troops to Ukraine. At the same time, he assured that the US does not plan to reduce its military presence in Europe.
