Ukraine’s expenses for participation in the 2024 Olympics and awards for athletes have been disclosed

The 2024 Olympics, which took place from July 26 to August 11, has already become a part of history, and with it, the costs incurred by Ukraine for participating in the competition and paying awards to athletes remained. As it became known Informant, the country’s total expenses amounted to UAH 139.6 million.
According to the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, as of August 21, 2024, budget expenditures related to Ukraine’s participation in the Olympic Games amounted to UAH 34,28,820. Of this amount, 32 million 85 thousand 920 UAH was spent on ensuring the participation of the delegation in sports competitions, 1 million 165 thousand 980 UAH went to the organization of the training headquarters, and 777 thousand 920 UAH was used to cover the Olympics in the information space. The NOC did not provide information on how much money was raised from non-budgetary sources.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports reported that 1.45 million dollars was allocated for the payment of prizes to the medalists of the Games. Olga Kharlan received the biggest prize – 180,000 dollars for the won gold and bronze. Rewards for gold amounted to $125,000, for silver – $80,000, and for bronze – $55,000. Payments were made in hryvnias at the NBU exchange rate on the date of the award, which totaled 59 million 576 thousand 980 hryvnias.
In addition, 1 million 120 thousand dollars, which is approximately 46 million 18 thousand 81 hryvnias, were also paid to the coaches of the medalists. It is noteworthy that with these funds spent on awards for athletes and their mentors, it would be possible to purchase 1,500 DJI Mavic 3 drones, which are actively used by the Ukrainian military.
