Postponement from mobilization for graduate students: clarification of the Ministry of Education and Culture

Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovyi explained issue of mobilization of graduate students. According to him, full-time post-graduate students have the right to postpone mobilization regardless of the year of admission and the form of previous education.

“They pass exams, maintain their level of knowledge and enter university. After that, they have the right to defer“, he says.

In 2024, the number of budgetary places in postgraduate studies will be almost doubled to 7,000, in order to provide an opportunity for all those who wish to continue their scientific activities.

The budgetary form of education in 2024 has been expanded almost twice. The state order is currently 7,000 graduate students. So that all students who are ready to continue their research and scientific activities have the opportunity to do so. In order not to lose capable and talented people”, — adds Lisovyi.

The Ministry of Education and Science strives to provide the youth with a decent education even in wartime, although some individuals see postgraduate studies only as a way to avoid mobilization.

Minister of Forestry stressed that undergraduate, master’s and postgraduate students have the right to postpone mobilization regardless of the sequence of admission and the year.

We were concerned that corruption schemes could force out of the universities those who really wanted to learn. This problem had to be solved. Our main goal now is to create conditions for training and development of talented young people. That is why this year we have significantly increased the number of budgetary places in graduate school,” said Minister Oksen Lisovyi.
