Ukraine’s international reserves decreased by $3 billion

International reserves of Ukraine in February 2025 decreased by 6.7% (by 3 billion dollars), reaching the level of 40.145 billion dollars. During this month, the country did not receive international financial tranches. About this informs press service of the National Bank of Ukraine.
Since the beginning of the year, reserves have decreased by 8.3% (by 3.650 billion dollars). The NBU explained that the decrease is due to currency interventions by the regulator and debt payments of Ukraine in foreign currency. These costs were only partially compensated by the proceeds from the placement of foreign currency bonds of the domestic government loan (OVDP) due to the lack of financial support from international partners.
“Despite the decrease, the volume of international reserves is sufficient to maintain the stability of the foreign exchange market”, – the message says.
We will remind that in December, the international reserves of Ukraine increased by 9.7% and as of January 1, 2025 amounted to 43.788 billion dollars – a record level in history. This happened thanks to the receipts from international partners in the amount of 9.4 billion dollars. Last year, Ukraine received powerful global financial support – about 42 billion dollars.
