Ukraine has completed the development of European standards for surface water quality control

Ukraine has completed the development of the first European standards in the field of surface water quality control with the support of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). This was reported by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine.

“On the way to the EU, Ukraine must create an effective state system for monitoring the state of the environment and monitoring compliance with environmental legislation in accordance with European standards, in particular, it refers to instrumental and laboratory control of the units of the State Inspectorate and its territorial bodies.” – says the message.

As an affiliated member of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the European Committee for Standardization in Electrical Engineering (CENELEC), Ukraine has undertaken to implement European standards (EN, EN ISO) and eliminate differences between national and European norms from January 1, 2023.

Within the framework of the OSCE support program, 18 national standards of Ukraine were developed for monitoring the quality of surface water. Draft documents are prepared in accordance with the requirements and procedures of national standardization. The implementation of these regulations is planned for May 2025 in accordance with the National Standardization Work Program.
