Ukraine successfully completed the screening of the 4th cluster for EU accession negotiations

Ukraine and the European Commission have completed joint work on the screening of the penultimate 4th negotiation cluster, which is necessary for the opening of all chapters in the negotiations on accession to the EU. About this told Oleksiy Ryabchyn, adviser to the Deputy Prime Minister on European integration Olga Stefanishyna, who was responsible for the coordination of this stage.

Consultations in Brussels within the screening of the “Green Agenda and Sustainable Connection” cluster lasted about a month.

“On July 9, we completed the screening in Brussels regarding chapters 15 and 21, which means the completion of the screening procedure for the fourth cluster – “Green agenda and sustainable connectivity”. In 6 weeks, we are waiting for the screening report from the Commission and are ready to open negotiations as soon as possible”, – said Ryabchyn.

He also noted that Ukraine remains to be screened for only one cluster – the agrarian one.

It will be recalled that on July 10, European Commissioner Marta Kos expressed her confidence in the opening of all negotiation clusters for Ukraine this year, despite Hungary’s existing veto. She confirmed the official position of the European Commission, noting that “the first cluster is ready to open” and expressed hope that it will happen “soon” for both Ukraine and Moldova. At the same time, she did not mention the fact that the opening of the cluster is still held back by the position of Hungary, which blocks the adoption of any decisions related to Ukraine.
