Zelensky approved the law on the inclusion of the Unmanned Systems Forces in the Armed Forces

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, signed draft law No. 11507, which provides for the creation of a new structure within the Armed Forces of Ukraine — the Unmanned Systems Forces. This is evidenced by the information placed in the card of the draft law.

On September 16, the law was returned to the Verkhovna Rada with the President’s signature.

According to the new legislation, it is envisaged to increase the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the use of unmanned and robotic systems in the air, sea and land spheres, as well as to ensure their readiness for operational use. The law also amends Article 3 of the Law “On the Armed Forces of Ukraine”, adding a new division to the separate branches of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces – the Forces of Unmanned Systems.

Financing of this initiative will be carried out within the budget of the Ministry of Defense for 2024.

At the end of June, President Zelenskyi signed a decree approving the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) to create the Unmanned Systems Forces in Ukraine. Corresponding changes to the legislation were recently adopted by the Verkhovna Rada. Colonel Vadym Sukharevskyi headed the newly created army. He noted that the system of Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces is being created with an emphasis on attracting reliable personnel. In particular, he emphasized the importance of an organized and well-developed personnel selection process. For him, the priority is the high quality of the training of specialists, not their number.
