Ukraine to create a registry of banned software

The State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine is preparing a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers, which provides for the creation of a register of prohibited software. About this informs press service of the State Special Communications Service.

As Ihor Stelnyk, Director of the Department of State Control in the Field of Information Protection and Security Audit of the State Special Communications Administration, noted, the problem of using hostile software in Ukraine remains relevant.

“There is constant mimicking of certain enemy software under domestic or European brands”, – explained Stelnyk.

According to him, despite the sanctions introduced by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine against a number of Russian sites and programs, some users for various reasons continue to use dangerous software instead of switching to Ukrainian or Western alternatives.

The recently adopted law No. 4336-IX should become a mechanism for solving this problem, because it obliges state institutions to work only with authorized software – with the exception of what will be included in a special register.

“The State Special Communications Administration is now entering the final stage of preparation of a draft Cabinet resolution that will regulate the creation and use of a register of prohibited software. Therefore, I would very much like, and even insisted, that the professional community be involved in the process of selecting the criteria for including software in this register.”, – added Stelnyk.
