Ukraine will remain a priority for Canada during the G7 presidency

Canada, which began its one-year presidency of the Group of Seven (G7) on January 1, 2025, confirmed that Ukraine will be one of the key areas of its activity. About this stated Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Melanie Joly on her page in the social network Kh.

“After the start of Canada’s chairmanship of the Group of Seven, my first official conversation took place with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiga. Ukraine remains a G7 priority,” – said Jolie.

During the discussion, according to the minister, the parties touched on the current situation in Ukraine and the future needs of the country. Jolie emphasized that Canada will continue to be a reliable ally of Ukraine in its struggle for freedom and independence.

The transition of the G7 presidency from Italy to Canada opens up new opportunities for strengthening support for Ukraine at the international level. In his greeting, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, expressed hope that 2025 will be a year of stable and just peace, and also thanked Canada for its consistent support.

During its G7 presidency, Canada is expected to focus on normalizing the situation in Ukraine, promoting the country’s recovery, and ensuring long-term peace and stability in the region.
